Okami HD News

One of the best news I heard this year was that Okami HD was going to be available to play on PS4, Xbox One and PC. I couldn'tcontain my excitement because I love this game; it’s my all-time favourite. I appreciate you can play the HD Version on PS3 but I much prefer the PS4 to the PS3. I love this game so much that I have a First for Figures Statue from the game.

Okami is about a Goddess of the Sun (The Mother to All) called Amaterasu (also known as Ammy) that is depicted as a white wolf. In the style of Japanese watercolour art, Ammy and her guide/interpreter Issun must go across the Japanese landscape restoring her ink powers for her Celestial Brush in order to defeat Orochi the eight-headed dragon. The Celestial Brush acts like a canvas on the screen where you can draw out different actions/attacks in the game. It combines the Japanese folklore and myths to make a compelling storyline. I hate to explain too much of the story because I don't want to give away any spoilers or make the story sound too complex. I will be going into more detail when I have completed the HD Version. It's a great game and if you like games like Legend of Zelda then I’m sure you will love it as much as I do.

The original version of the game came out on PS2 and for some reason I put the game down which meant I forgot all the moves/abilities in the game. I admit at the time, I didn't make much effort to try and relearn the moves/abilities so I just didn’t really play it again. When the Wii U came out I decided to give it another try with the Wii Version for Christmas in 2014. I have to say the Wii controller with the Numchuck was such good fun for the Celestial Brush but not so much when trying to dodge and attack in battle. I believe this was an early version of the Wii games and it meant that possibly the motion control was either laggy or I didn’t swing it in the right direction to register the move.

I am probably going to get the game for the PS4 but if you pre-order you get a free theme and image on the PS4. I'm not aware if it's the same for Xbox One and PC but I would like to think they would do some sort of pre-order freebies too. I am gutted that yet again we aren’t blessed with a Collector's Edition that I'm aware of in Europe. I can only find the Collector's edition in Japan and don't get me wrong it's tempting but I would much rather have a European Collector's Edition. I just hate that when I like a JRPG that all the really awesome editions are in Asia.

Okami HD is released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on 12th December 2017 which is great so it's in time for Christmas however it's also a negative. It would make a great present idea but I would like the Pre-Order bonus of the theme and image, although I don't think I can wait that long either. It's a great price for the game in my opinion only costing £15.99 in comparison to other HD Remakes. I have to hold myself back as I have to buy lots of Christmas presents this year and I may not have the money to purchase Okami HD.

I have linked the trailer below for you to watch and let me know in the comments below what you think about this game. Should I pre-order it now or ask for it for Christmas?
